On 20 April, the Singapore Red Cross organised a Hari Raya celebration for 60 seniors and 40 volunteers at the neighbours' corner of Tampines Villa Residents Network.
Volunteers and employees engaged the seniors in a game where seniors danced, sang to their favourite tunes and even performed magic tricks. The radiant smiles on their faces spoke volumes about how much they enjoyed the session. Each senior who performed received a prize — a coin with the special edition Hari Raya embossed.
There was also a lucky draw where some fortunate seniors won lucky draw prizes such as a floral bouquet, special plums, and exercise equipment.
Care Express Services sponsored the door gifts. Each senior received a water bottle.
For tea break, the seniors were treated to a delectable buffet comprising dry mee siam, chicken wings, sandwiches, cream puffs, vegetables and beverages.
"It was nice meeting old neighbours and forging new friendships," said Mdm Tan Ah Leck, 81.
"It was nice coming out of the house," said Mdm Sarah Ng Beng Hee, 72.
Through such elderly engagement, the SRC strives to bring joy to seniors while enriching their lives.
