The Red Cross Junior (RCJ), in partnership with Pacifica Music Academy, celebrated a significant milestone on 17 December with its first-ever concert, the RCJ x Friends in Harmony Concert. Held at the Shaw Foundation Alumni House, the concert served as a reminder that no matter how small you are, everyone can play a part in raising funds for the community. The event line up featured a heart-warming showcase of music and performances by young talents from five pre-schools under the RCJ programme, including an uplifting finale collaboration with Pacifica.
All funds raised through this initiative will support youth development programmes in the Singapore Red Cross (SRC), which focuses on nurturing children and youths to become the humanitarian leaders of tomorrow.

Opening the concert as the Guest-of-Honour, SRC Secretary General Mr Benjamin William expressed his pride in the inaugural event, themed “Little Hands for Humanity.” He highlighted that compassion knows no age limit, as the five pre-schools united to foster empathy and a spirit of service within the youngest generation. Expressing his gratitude to parents, teachers, and Pacifica Music Academy, he celebrated the children as the "stars" of the evening, whose joy and dedication inspire a more hopeful and humanitarian future for society.

“As we celebrate tonight, let us continue to encourage these “little hands” to grow into big hearts - hearts that will one day serve, lead and change lives,” he said.
For the parents in attendance, the evening was a proud moment. Mr Gordon Chan was delighted to see his four-year-old son perform after catching glimpses of his rehearsals at home. His son, who attends Tinkerland @ Yunnan, performed a spirited medley featuring Made in India, The Chimes of Dunkirk, and Habibi. Mr Chan, who described his son as easy-going and cheerful, noted that preparing for the concert had made him visibly happier and more self-assured.
“It’s important that he is enjoying himself and participating actively in school activities,” said Mr Chan, adding that he would encourage his son to take part in more events of this nature.

Backstage, the children were bubbling with excitement. Many shared their delight at performing alongside their friends, with one young performer exclaiming about how thrilled he was to finally step out onto the stage after weeks of rehearsals with his friends.

There were also pre-concert activities such as information booths on the Red Cross Youth and Junior programmes and photo booths for participants to take photos with their loved ones. One highlight was a demonstration conducted by our Red Cross Juniors where they taught participants essential first aid skills, reinforcing the message that age is not a factor when it comes to making a difference.
The Red Cross Junior wishes to extend its heartfelt appreciation to the Shaw Foundation Alumni House for providing the venue and to Mediacorp Class 95 for featuring the event.
We also express our sincere gratitude to the students, teachers, and parents from the five RCJ pre-schools, as well as the young talents from Pacifica Music Academy, for their immense effort and dedication in making this inaugural concert a success.
