60 Lights, One Future: Oceanarium Recognition Ceremony

As the new year rolls in, what better way to celebrate it than to have a closing ceremony at the Singapore Oceanarium? Marking the end of the three-month-long charity fundraising campaign, “60 Lights, One Future” concluded with over $460,000 raised.

Launched in November 2025, Sustainablemarkets.sg founded by Peace of Art Singapore gathered 60 local creatives, community organisations, families and businesses - united with the common purpose of bringing light to the children in the Young Hearts programme.

These donors contribute more than just financial support - each of them shared their own story on how they wish to be inspirations for others to step up and help each other in our community. Through their efforts to organise fundraising events such as community chess tournaments (Aliwal Chess Club), pool parties (Happy Fish Swim School), and handmade merchandise Christmas bazaars, they showcased their fervent passion for their own entrepreneurial causes to raise funds.

These donors and Young Hearts beneficiaries were invited to the “60 Lights, One Future” closing ceremony at the RWS Singapore Oceanarium for an awards ceremony to celebrate their milestones.

The culmination of our 60 Lights, One Future campaign was more than just a celebration—it was a journey of discovery. Beyond the presentation of certificates and awards, our 60 Lights mentors and Young Hearts beneficiaries were treated to an exclusive guided tour of the newly renovated Singapore Oceanarium.

Themed "Light in the Dark," the experience allowed the groups to explore the depths of the biomarine world, as they learned how even the smallest sliver of light at the bottom of the ocean is never wasted. In these deep-sea ecosystems, every creature depends on the other to survive, just like our community; no one is left in the dark, and everyone receives the mutual support they deserve to thrive.

Following which, Mrs Eunice Yeo, Founder of Peace of Art and Sustainable Markets SG, opened the ceremony with a simple reminder: “No one was asked to do everything, only to do something, with intention.”

This gathering reminded us that a single act can spark community-wide change, much like the illumination of our 60 Lights, One Future sculpture last November. Mrs Eunice Yeo also reminded the audience of her purpose, citing that anyone can contribute by taking continuous action to work together, creating all sorts of possibilities—of which, this recognition ceremony is proof of this collective effort.

Moments like these remind me that beyond policies and programmes, it is people and partnerships that truly make a difference for families.”  said our Guest of Honour, Goh Pei Ming, Minister of State, Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Social and Family Development

As a leader in the social welfare scene, Mr Goh added extra emphasis on the power of collective action and affirmed that leadership and contribution take many forms. He said that the opportunity to thrive must be a universal right, extended to every child and family regardless of their background.

Drawing a parallel to marine ecosystems, he noted that just as a reef requires the balanced coexistence of fish and shellfish to flourish, a healthy society depends on a synchronised effort. It is only through the collective action of governments, communities, volunteers, and corporate partners that a truly inclusive support system can be sustained.

Ms Yvonne Loo, Council Member of the Singapore Red Cross, grounded the evening in impact and reminded us that at the centre of this journey are children supported through the Young Hearts Programme.

After the heartwarming speech on the impact that 60 Lights, One Future has achieved, Mrs Eunice Goh and Mr Goh Pei Ming proceeded to hand out certificates of appreciation from the Singapore Red Cross. These certificates not only recognise their participation in the campaign, but also reiterates their efforts which have provided the Young Hearts beneficiaries with the nourishment and opportunities to thrive in life.
