In November 2025, Cyclone Ditwah and the northeast monsoon season brought days of heavy rain and severe flooding across Sri Lanka. Rivers overflowed, homes were damaged and communities across 25 districts were left grappling with rising floodwaters and disrupted infrastructure.
In total, approximately 1.7 million individuals and 490,000 families were affected by the disaster.
In collaboration with the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society (SLRCS), through the support of the Singapore Red Cross (SRC) has raised S$505,868 to date, supporting relief and recovery for approximately 57,000 people.
To ensure aid matched evolving ground needs, an SRC team deployed to Sri Lanka in December 2025. This complemented the rapid response of over 400 SLRCS volunteers across 25 branches, who provided life-saving first aid, conducted assessments, and distributed essential relief items to flood-affected communities and evacuation centres.

SRC and SLRCS assess damage in a flood-affected community following Cyclone Ditwah in Sri Lanka.
On the ground, volunteers from the SLRCS mobilised quickly to assist affected communities. More than 400 volunteers across 25 branches conducted rapid assessments, distributed relief items and provided first aid services in evacuation centres and flood-affected communities.
As of January 2026, the Singapore Red Cross has reached over 46,000 lives through the SLRCS response – delivering critical relief items, life-saving medical care, and community-led recovery assessments.
While the storm has passed, the journey to renewal is just beginning. SRC remains hand-in-hand with our partners in Sri Lanka, committed to restoring hope through stable shelter, mental health support, rebuilding works and clean water systems. Together, we are not just repairing infrastructure; we are restoring the future for thousands of children and families.
Every dollar supports families with a second chance and allows communities to find their footing once more. Stand with Sri Lanka by making a donation here before the appeal closes on 31 March 2026.
