Mr Rajesh S/O Sobragemal started donating blood from the age of 18. Now 47, he looks back on his motivations and the legacy left behind by a father who gave generously.
Regional Logistics Manager Mr Rajesh S/O Sobragemal’s remarkable journey began nearly three decades ago, but the seeds were planted much earlier through the example of his late father. Unlike many first-time donors, Rajesh had no fears or preconceived notions about blood donation. On the contrary, he could hardly wait to begin.
Daddy’s Boys
Having grown up watching their father regularly donate blood, Rajesh and his brother developed an early appreciation for this selfless act. The moment he turned 18 and became eligible, he eagerly followed in his father's footsteps alongside his brother who is also a regular donor.
“My father was really very proud of us and always encouraged us to keep going. Now, my brother and I would try to plan ahead in order to meet and donate together if our schedules allow!”
Now, at 47 years old, he has achieved what few blood donors ever do — receiving the prestigious Titanium Medallion in recognition of his extraordinary commitment to saving lives through blood donation.
Motivated by Others
“Saving lives was and still has been the biggest motivator. To hear of the heartfelt blood receivers stories.”
Mr Rajesh found tremendous value in conversing with experienced donors and listening to their donation journeys. These interactions proved invaluable in sustaining his motivation throughout the years. Their stories of perseverance and impact resonated with him, reinforcing his commitment to the cause.
Yet, his main motivator has been, and always will be, to save lives. The heartfelt stories from blood recipients have continually reinforced the importance of his contributions, showing him the direct impact of his regular donations on people facing tough situations.
When The Going Gets Tough, The Tough Plans Ahead
Despite his unwavering dedication, maintaining consistency hasn't always been simple. As a Regional Logistics Manager with substantial professional responsibilities, Rajesh acknowledges that carving out time for regular donations amidst his busy schedule presents the greatest challenge. Yet, he approaches this obstacle with characteristic good humour, noting that beyond time management, there are no other impediments to his continued participation.
I am Titanium
Receiving the Titanium Medallion this year carries special significance as it connects Rajesh to the memory of his late father, whose early influence set him on this path. He views the recognition not merely as a personal accomplishment but as a tribute to his father's efforts in involving the family in this life-saving tradition.
Over the years, he has inspired numerous friends to begin their own donation journeys. These friends have, in turn, influenced others in their circles, creating an ever-expanding network of donors. The ripple effect of Rajesh's example extends far beyond his immediate family. demonstrating how a single individual's commitment can indirectly save countless lives.
“It’s a small step that makes a HUGE difference, don’t let fear stop you. Let the heart ♥️ drive you.”
