Singapore Red Cross 51st Annual General Meeting

The 51st Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Singapore Red Cross (SRC) was held at Red Cross House on 23 June 2025.

In his Opening Remarks, the Chairman reflected on how 2024 was a milestone year marking the organisation’s 75th anniversary of humanitarian work, at the same time addressing evolving humanitarian challenges including climate change, natural disasters and Singapore’s rapidly aging population. 

He thanked donors, partners, volunteers, and staff for their commitment towards building a compassionate and resilient society that upheld dignity and empowered positive change. He also took the opportunity to express his appreciation of his fellow Council Members for their wisdom, dedication, and unwavering support.

At the AGM, the members approved the Audited Statement of Income and Expenditure and the Audited Balance Sheet for SRCS for the period of 1 January to 31 December 2024, as well as the SRC Annual Report 2024. The AGM also approved the appointment of Deloitte & Touche LLP as the SRCS Statutory Auditor for FY 2025. Amendments were also made to the SRCS Constitution including the recognition of the Risk Committee and CHAIR as Oversight Committees given the significance and impact of their work and the inclusion of at least one Youth Member on the Council to promote youth involvement and reflect diversity and inclusion.

Election of Council Members to the Council for 2025 - 2027

The AGM acknowledged the contributions of Ms Tracey Woon, Mr Rajaram Muralli Raja, Ms Agnes Eu, Dr Mohammad Zaidi Bin Ariffin, Dr Yap Kwong Weng  and Mr Koh Yat Chung for their invaluable contributions and support, as they stepped down from the Council having served six years as Council Members, and recorded a vote of thanks accordingly. 

Prof V Anantharaman, Ms Tan Poh Hong, Ms Yvonne Loo, Ms Usha Chandradas and Dr Ganesh Ramalingam were elected as Council Members at the AGM.  

The Chairman appointed Mr Benedict Teo, Mr Dave Gurbani, Mr Desmond Chong, Prof Lee Cheng and Ms Dawn Chen as recommended by the Corporate Governance and Nomination Committee and endorsed by the Council.  Mr Tay Yi Xiang will serve as an Observer and Alternate Member to Ms Dawn Chen.  The appointment of the two youths, Dawn and Yi Xiang, will give the youth a voice in the Council and bring a different perspective to the discussions. 

Ms Emily Tan, Mr George Goh, Mr Steve Lee, Mr Puvan Ariaratnam, Dr Joy Quah and Mr Mike Hue, having been elected or appointed in 2024 will continue to serve for one more year.  The Council will therefore, now comprise 18 members (including the Chairman and Secretary-General), with nine elected members and seven appointed members.
