Our Home. Love 60 Charity Concert «同一家园.爱心60慈善演出» Singapore Red Cross SG60 Charity Concert presents cultural melting pot; raises close to S$800,000 to support vulnerable persons

Singapore, 3 August 2025 – In celebration of SG60 and in conjunction with Nanyang Hakka Federation’s 96th Anniversary and Wui Chiu Fui Kun’s 203rd anniversary, Nanyang Hakka Federation, and Wui Chiu Fui Kun held the Singapore Red Cross Charity Concert 2025 Our Home. Love 60 Charity Concert «同一家园.爱心60慈善演出» to fundraise for SRC’s humanitarian services supporting vulnerable communities in Singapore. Guest-of-Honour, Minister for National Development Chee Hong Tat performed at the concert for the sixth time, delivering songs such as 我找到自己 and Sway.

In her speech, Singapore Red Cross Vice-Chairman, Ms Tan Poh Hong said, “Your support to our humanitarian causes directly uplifts vulnerable communities—bringing the stay-alone elderly to healthcare and social activities; giving persons with disabilities a safe haven and round-the-clock care; supporting migrant workers in their time of need; empowering children, youth, and families from lower-income homes; and giving them a shot at breaking intergenerational vulnerability. Your collective efforts have enabled us to further our humanitarian objectives and build a community where care, love, and hope can flourish.”

As part of SG60 celebrations, the concert brought together over 150 performers and volunteers from all walks of life, presenting songs that span cultures, eras and generations. The concert was organised by Ms Terene Seow (萧立娟), the immediate past chairperson and current member of the Singapore Red Cross Fundraising Committee, who not only envisioned and directed the show, but also brought together diverse performing groups and rallied donors and organisations to fundraise for the SRC. Titles such as 小刀会序曲, 我问天, Jai Ho, Matsuri, Sway, Chan Mali Chan, and more were reimagined by Nanyang Hakka Orchestra, led by Master Conductor Liu Haifeng. Through music and dance, the concert weaved cultures and generations, celebrating multiculturalism, unity, and resilience—reflecting the spirit of SG60.

Myanmarese Ms Thinn Khaing Swe, one of 10 SRC’s migrant volunteers who presented a dance at the concert, said, “I am proud to be in Singapore and grateful to be part of this concert, where I am able to give back through my passion—dancing. Together, we can inspire future generations to serve with heart. Now more than ever, we stand together, united in compassion and growing stronger with every step forward.”

Amongst the orchestra’s performers was its oldest member, 87-year-old Mr Lian Rongshi (连荣史), whose lifelong dedication to music reflected the enduring spirit of Singapore’s pioneer generation. “I am happy to be part of this charity concert and am happy to see many people coming together to enjoy music. In a multicultural society like Singapore, we need to be open-minded. We have to learn and embrace other cultures and move ahead with the times. I am happy to present this multicultural concert to Singaporeans!”

The concert saw over 560 guests, including elderly constituents from the Toa Payoh West-Thomson constituency.

The amount raised is inclusive of Tote Board funding.
