Equipping Preschoolers with First Aid Skills

On May 19, Red Cross Junior (RCJ) @ Community organised an Open House for the juniors at the Red Cross Youth Hub.

Parents gleaned more insights into the work of the RCJ @ Community and the activities planned in the pipeline for the children. These included the RCJ x UG Experience Day, and festive celebrations. Through these activities, preschoolers learn more about the humanitarian work of the Singapore Red Cross from a young age while inculcating values that will stand them in good stead in the future.

The children gained exposure to basic first aid by trying their hand at bandaging, administering CardioPulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and leveraging the Heimlich manoeuvre for choking. They also learnt more about a water filtration system, Wateroam.

The children put their knowledge and skills to the test by engaging in various games. Some children left with RCJ umbrellas, water bottles, and attractive prizes.
