Singapore, 5 September 2025 – The Singapore Red Cross (SRC) is committing SGD50,000 to support the humanitarian efforts and launching a public fundraising appeal to support communities ravaged by the mid-August monsoon floods in Pakistan.

The ongoing floods have left communities across the affected regions in crisis. Roads and infrastructure have been severely damaged, preventing timely delivery of aid to isolated areas. Entire remote mountain villages have been destroyed, and the disaster has devastated livelihoods, destroying homes, crops, and sources of income for many families.

“The catastrophic floods that began in Pakistan in June have rapidly worsened and have caused unprecedented devastation, displacing millions, destroying countless homes and livelihoods, and leaving entire communities without shelter, food, or security. The Singapore Red Cross believes that humanity has no borders and is calling on Singaporeans to stand in solidarity with those affected and to extend a hand of compassion in their darkest hour. Every contribution will deliver critical relief and bring hope to those who have lost so much,” said Mr Benjamin William, Secretary General/CEO, Singapore Red Cross.

The SGD50,000 contribution will go towards supporting the Pakistan Red Crescent Society’s (PRCS) scaled-up emergency response. Current relief and recovery efforts include search and rescue operations, first aid and health interventions through mobile health units, establishing shelters, damage assessments, and cash assistance. Additionally, the SRC has launched a fundraising appeal to mobilise donations from the public to support humanitarian relief efforts for the vulnerable communities affected by the flood. 

The mid-August flash floods and landslides have left a trail of devastation across multiple districts. In Punjab, the disaster has submerged over 2,000 villages, displaced more than 2 million people, and evacuated at least 760,000 residents along with 516,000 animals. To date, 33 lives have been lost. The scale of destruction threatens to cripple agriculture, livelihoods, and key export crops, exacerbating the hardships for affected communities. 

In response, the PRCS branches have been distributing food and water, hygiene and dignity kits, and holding psychosocial support and awareness activities. They have also mobilised their water treatment units and distributed essential items such as mosquito nets and water filtration units to protect communities from secondary health crises.
