Newly emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases have been appearing at an increasing frequency over the millennia, driven by various microbial, human, and environmental factors. Any of these diseases can develop into a pandemic at any moment with little warning, severely impacting the psychosocial and economic aspects of mankind, regardless of borders. Southeast Asia in particular, is considered a vital area to monitor for such diseases.

With diseases that do not discriminate between country borders, it is in our best interest to remain vigilant and prepared at all times. The Centre of Excellence for Pandemics aims to provide a platform that would assist in monitoring and preparedness.
