Use the Caregivers Training Grant (CTG) to offset up to $200 per year for AIC-approved caregiving courses. Tap on your SkillsFuture Credits to further reduce costs and make learning more accessible.
Caregivers Training Grant (CTG)
The Caregivers Training Grant (CTG) provides a $200 annual subsidy to help caregivers attend approved courses offered by recognised training providers. These courses equip caregivers with essential skills via home-based or classroom-based learning.

Who Can Apply for CTG
- Nationality: Care recipient is a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Age & Needs: Aged 65+ or certified to have a disability
- Relationship: Caregiver (family member or domestic helper) directly provides care
- Training: Caregiver attends and completes a CTG-approved course
How to Apply
- Choose a CTG-approved training course
- Contact the training provider for details
- Register at least two weeks before the start date and indicate CTG application
- Complete the CTG form; the provider submits it on your behalf
Note: CTG cannot be stacked on top of SkillsFuture subsidies for the same course. You may use SkillsFuture Credits to co-pay for a CTG-approved course (check with SkillsFuture Singapore).

Psychological First Aid (PFA) for Caregivers equips participants to support people in emotional distress, especially in caregiving contexts. It covers mental health basics, common stress responses, and the PFA framework, with practice scenarios to build confidence in applying techniques sensitively at home or in professional roles.

The Advanced Psychological First Aid for Caregivers course is designed for individuals who are providing direct, ongoing care to family members, friends, or clients in distress or crisis. While it builds on the foundational PFA skills, the course adapts techniques for the unique emotional, relational, and practical challenges faced by caregivers especially when balancing their own well-being with the needs of those they support.
Through interactive discussions, real-life caregiver scenarios, and guided reflection, participants will deepen their ability to provide empathetic, effective psychological support in high-stress caregiving situations, such as supporting someone with chronic illness, disability, dementia, or post-crisis recovery. The course places strong emphasis on boundary-setting, preventing caregiver burnout, and fostering resilience over the long term.
Learning Units
- Learning Unit 1: Understanding Complex Reactions in Caregiving Contexts
Adaptation from standard APFA: Focuses on recognising complex emotional and psychological reactions not only in the affected person, but also in the caregiver. Includes how prolonged exposure to distress impacts both parties. - Learning Unit 2: Navigating Grief and Loss as a Caregiver
Adaptation: Covers anticipatory grief, ambiguous loss, and prolonged grief, which are common in long-term care situations (e.g., dementia, terminal illness). Provides strategies for sustaining emotional presence without becoming emotionally overwhelmed. - Learning Unit 3: Self-Care and Boundaries for Caregivers
Adaptation: Expands on burnout and compassion fatigue with a caregiver-specific lens, including cultural and family expectations, guilt management, and strategies for securing social support and respite care.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this course, caregivers will be able to:
- Identify and manage complex emotional responses in both the care recipient and themselves
- Apply tailored PFA techniques to provide compassionate support through various forms of grief and loss in caregiving contexts
- Develop and maintain realistic self-care plans to prevent burnout, compassion fatigue, and role strain
