The Red Cross Home for the Disabled's Emergency Preparedness Gears up a Notch

The Red Cross Home for the Disabled conducted a Code Blue Exercise at the ward on Level 5 and Level 6 ward on 22 March. This exercise was targeted at assessing Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) skills, teamwork and the team's response under pressure.

Besides that, the RCHD team also conducted a fire drill exercise in its kitchen to ascertain the team's effectiveness in responding to an emergency, in the Company Emergency Response Team (CERT) Leader's absence. The fire drill exercise incorporated a simulation where a casualty sustained a compound fracture. The employees put their first aid skills to the test to treat the casualty at a first aid station which was set up spontaneously. Employees were also evacuated from the building. This was part of its quarterly fire preparedness exercises.
